Designs of the Quarter: Email Design, Image Editing and Menu Design

Designs of the Quarter is a regular contest that celebrates the best work within our company in various categories of products. Last quarter’s categories were HTML emails, image editing, and menus. Take a look at the winning designs.

Sample Design: HTML Email

This design won the HTML emails category. It is a bright and vibrant design that was appropriate for a restaurant and made the special brunch appealing. In addition, the placement of the various elements worked to draw the recipient into the email to learn more about the event.

The winner for image editing accomplished a tough job.

Sample Design: Image Editing Input

This old photo was restored very beautifully, with the designer filling in the missing parts and producing a whole, seamless image. At the same time, the quality of the image was improved for better contrast and clarity.

We seem to be really fixated with food here: the third and last category is, of course, menus.

Sample Design: Menus

The designer won by creating an organized document that has visual impact, despite having to incorporate quite a bit of text and many images. Colors and fonts are used to good effect, drawing the eyes to the food and making it look even more appetizing.

Affinity is the best thing to happen to the Promotional Products business since the Pen.

  3. Joanie says:

The top file has two headers. The logo says Easter Brunch Event and then beside that you have the Headline Ember Grille again with Easter Celebration.
The delicious Brunch image show no food. The Photos with the Easter Bunny image is old time camera and looks like a kid taking picture. The ad would be more effect to show the Easter Bunny with a child setting on his lap. The colors of this ad say nothing about Easter. The images are all too small. The box on the right with the phone number says to call to reserve. Reserve what? This information is repeated in the box with all the text which is all the same point size.

The restored photo was pretty good but the hat is just chopped off.

The menu back looks like it is impossible to read copy setting over multiple food images.

Joanie: Thank you for taking the time to review this and give extensive feedback. I’ll pass it on to our team: but of course you understand that the client provides the copy and has final say over the design as well.

      Thanks again!
